Hello again Damian! I appreciate your curiosity. Here's a brief explanation of the "Wow Factor."
The "Wow Factor" is the part or aspect of your college application that signifies what's unique about you and how you embrace this uniqueness through active involvement in activities. For instance, say that you are passionate in equality in the workplace and you are actively participating in a club or organization that shares the same passion that you have. You would highlight this in your application by explaining how your involvement in particular activities helped strengthen your passion for this cause and how you have made an impact in your school, community and/or society. You need to then connect this passion with your identity/background which will help you emphasize how your racial/ ethnic background or identity played a role in your cause for action and involvement.
Since you are early in the college admissions process, you need to work on identifying your passions. Then you need to figure out how you can make a positive impact based on these passions. Please check out the "Wow Factor" page of our website for additional information. The ultimate goal of developing the Wow factor is to emphasize to colleges that you are not like the other applicants and that you have something greater to offer to their academic and social community.
I hope this explanation was helpful and that it will help you take a next step further in representing who you are and what you stand for to the college admissions committees. Continue to keep up the good work! Please share our organization with your friends, family and peers who may be interested and follow us on social media.
